Portable align boring is simply align boring done on site. It’s not economical and practical to move heavy machinery to a machine shop when the machinery breaks down or needs maintenance/servicing.

HOW IT’S DONE

Before boring begins, the housing must be straight to ensure the rotating part doesn’t bend or flex when revolving. The correct centre-line must be established since the outcome of the entire machining process is dependent on that line. 

Bores must also be measured carefully for correct alignment and diameter before the boring equipment is attached. The equipment features a long boring bar (with a cutter) running the entire length of the hole to renew roundness and straightness. 

The boring process is typically a two-step process. The first process involves boring to approximate dimensions and if required the holes can be built up with our precision automatic bore welder. 

The second process is more precise utilizing high precision cutting aids to offer unmatched accuracy in a process referred to as bore honing.
