Company History

HISTORY OF BASIC MACHINING

Basic Machining Ltd. was established on May 10, 1983, by Richard Norman and ownership transferred February 27, 2015, with same values, work ethic and quality. Richard continues to be a valuable member of our team.

Initially, Basic Machining Ltd. was focused on the logging business. Over the years, however, the company diversified into other fields of work and customer base when the logging industry growth began to decline. Basic Machining Ltd. now offers a wide range of services such as; standard and custom machining, welding, fabrication, align boring, flange facing and so much more.

WHY HAS BASIC MACHINING LTD. ENJOYED TREMENDOUS SUCCESS?

Basic Machining Ltd. has never turned work away. All new work has and is still viewed as an ongoing challenge. This is one of the main reasons the company has been able to dominate the machining and fabrication market in Dryden and surrounding areas covering a 500-kilometer radius, east, and west. And what’s more interesting is the company is still growing its customer base and machining/fabrication shop.

Over the years, Basic Machining Ltd. has been able to acquire some of the best and latest machining and fabrication equipment such as the Haas ST-30 Y CNC Lathe machine. The company has also brought many new sawmill and mining customers on board.

Besides being able to deliver on all kinds of jobs, the company’s success can also be attributed to an unmatched focus on delivering high-quality products/services and quick turnaround times. Basic Machining Ltd. has also enjoyed success because of its cooperation policy in working with other industry players. The company has also strived to keep old equipment in mint condition. All our machines have been and are still in great working condition.

Basic Machining Ltd. has also been successful because of having the right people at the helm.

Michael Kellar developed a passion for machining at a young age. He followed his passion and pursued further education at Canadore College acquiring a diploma as a Machinist in 2001/2002. He then commenced his apprenticeship at Basic Machining Ltd. and completed his Interprovincial Machinist License in 2007.
